Interphase Prophase Metaphase Anaphase Telophase

Helps you remember the phases of mitosis in order.

Quick self-quiz

Tap each word to check what it stands for.

When to use it

Use it when describing cell division to keep the phases in the correct sequence.

Example

During Metaphase (M), chromosomes line up at the cell's equator. During Anaphase (A), sister chromatids are pulled to opposite poles.

Common mistake

Treating Interphase as the first phase of mitosis. Interphase is a separate growth stage before mitosis begins, but the I is included because it must happen first.
