Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. When you first visit, you will see a cookie consent banner where you can manage your preferences.
Essential Cookies
These cookies are required for core functionality and cannot be disabled.

Analytics Cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand general usage patterns. It sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_* that record an anonymous identifier, the pages you view, and approximate location. This data is processed by Google. You can learn more in Google's Privacy Policy.
We also use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site through aggregated usage metrics and anonymized session replays and heatmaps. Clarity sets cookies and captures interactions such as clicks, scrolls, and page navigation to help us improve the site. It masks text input by default and does not capture sensitive form contents. This data is processed by Microsoft. You can learn more in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Advertising Cookies
We use Mediavine to display ads. Mediavine and its advertising partners set cookies and similar identifiers to serve and measure advertisements based on your visits to LivePhysics and other websites, and to manage your consent choices. See the Advertising section below for details and opt-out options.
Managing Your Preferences
- Use the Manage cookie preferences link to view and change your choices at any time.
- You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies will prevent sign-in from working.
Advertising
We use Mediavine to display advertisements on some pages. Advertising helps keep LivePhysics free to use. Mediavine is our advertising management partner and works with programmatic advertising partners to fill ad space on the site.
How Mediavine uses cookies for ads
Mediavine and its advertising partners are third-party vendors that use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads on our site. These technologies enable them to serve and measure ads based on your visit to LivePhysics and other websites. Depending on your consent choices and location, these ads may be personalized or non-personalized.
Managing consent
Where required by law, a consent banner lets you accept or decline personalized advertising and manage your choices. You can reopen it at any time using the Manage cookie preferences link in the Cookies section above.
Your choices
- Review how Mediavine handles data in the Mediavine Privacy Policy.
- Opt out of personalized advertising from participating vendors at aboutads.info (United States), optout.networkadvertising.org, or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
Information processed for advertising may include your IP address, device and browser information, approximate location, and the pages you view, used by Mediavine and its partners to select and measure ads. No account information is shared with advertising networks.
Account Data
Creating an account is optional. If you choose to sign in with Apple, Google, GitHub, or Microsoft, we receive the following from your provider and store it in our database. With Sign in with Apple, you may also choose Apple's Hide My Email option, in which case we receive a private relay email address instead of your real one.
Profile information
- Your email address
- Your display name
- Your profile image URL (hosted by your OAuth provider)
- A provider-issued user ID used to link your account on future sign-ins
Sign-in audit data
- IP address and browser user-agent recorded at each sign-in, used only for security purposes such as detecting unusual access
Activity data
- Tools and labs you have bookmarked, with the date bookmarked
- Tools and labs you have liked, with the date liked
- Tools and labs you have recently viewed, with timestamps and view counts
How long we keep it
Account data is kept until you delete your account. Sessions expire automatically after 7 days of inactivity. Deleting your account removes all profile information, sign-in audit records, bookmarks, likes, and recently viewed history from our database.
Your rights
- Export all data associated with your account by visiting /account/ and selecting "Export my data". You will receive a JSON file.
- Delete your account and all associated data by visiting /account/ and selecting "Delete my account". Deletion is permanent.
Third parties
As sign-in providers, Apple, Google, GitHub, and Microsoft receive no information about your activity on LivePhysics. They are involved only in the initial OAuth handshake that lets you sign in. Separately, our analytics and advertising providers (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Mediavine) receive anonymized usage data as described in the Cookies section, but they do not receive your account details. Cloudflare proxies all traffic to our servers and processes data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
LivePhysics Mobile App
The LivePhysics app for iPhone and iPad offers the same tools and content as our website, plus features that use your device's hardware. The same principles apply. Our interactive tools run entirely on your device, and your inputs and calculations are never sent to our servers.
Account and sync
Signing in is optional and uses the same account as the website (Apple, Google, GitHub, or Microsoft). When you are signed in, your bookmarks, likes, and recently viewed history sync with your account exactly as described in the Account Data section. When you are signed out, the app stores this information only on your device.
Device permissions
The app asks for the following permissions only when you use a feature that needs them. Data from these sensors is processed on your device and is not transmitted to us:
- Camera. The Compass Camera feature shows a live camera view. Photos you capture are processed on your device. A photo is saved only to your own photo library, and only when you choose to save it. We do not upload, store, or have access to your photos.
- Location. Used on your device to show which satellites are overhead in the Satellite Tracker, and to stamp coordinates, heading, and place name onto Compass Camera photos. Your location is not sent to our servers.
- Motion and orientation. The Motion Sensor Lab reads your device's accelerometer and gyroscope to visualize acceleration, rotation, and tilt. This data stays on your device.
- Photo library (add only). Lets you save wallpapers and Compass Camera photos to your photo library. The app can only add images you choose to save, and it cannot read your existing photos.
Augmented reality
The AR Measure & Launch feature uses the camera and motion sensors to place measurements and animations in your surroundings. This processing happens entirely on your device.
No advertising in tools
The app does not display advertisements within its tools, and no advertising or analytics identifiers are collected from your use of the app's native features.
Your rights
You can export or permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile tab, which opens your account settings, or by visiting /account/ on the website.
Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites, libraries, or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
Children's Privacy
LivePhysics™ is an educational site and welcomes student users. However, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since our site does not require registration or collect personal data through normal use, children can use the tools without providing any personal information.
If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding any personal data we hold about you, including the right to access, correct, or delete that data. If you use the site without an account, there is very little data associated with you.
If you have an account, you can export a copy of your data or permanently delete your account and all associated data from your account settings page. For all other data requests or questions, contact us at [email protected].
International Data Transfers
If you access our website from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers are located. By using our website, you consent to such transfers.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes occur, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be modified. Continued use of the website constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
