Follow direction
A right jump adds its size. A left jump subtracts its size.
Explore addition, subtraction and distance with directed jumps on an equally spaced number line.

Your goal
Start at 0 and land on 4. Build a path with directed jumps.
Reduced motion is on. The controls still update the scene.
Start 0. Your 0 jumps have a net change of 0. You are at 0, 4 units from the goal.
The line has equal unit spacing. Up to 30 jumps are drawn; their curves overlap when a path is busy.
Number Line Jumper helps early elementary learners connect arithmetic with movement along an equally spaced line. Choose a jump size and a direction, then build a visible path from a starting number to a goal. Rightward jumps add and leftward jumps subtract, while the feedback reports the net change and remaining distance. Learners can undo a jump, combine several small jumps, or overshoot and return. Nine goals include positive numbers and an introduction to negative positions, encouraging discussion of direction, distance, and operations.
A right jump adds its size. A left jump subtracts its size.
Try reaching the same endpoint with several different jump sizes.
The remaining distance tells you how far the marker is from the goal.
Connect directed jumps with addition, subtraction and distance. Ask students to predict what will happen, change one setting, and explain what they observe. Learn gives a starting point. Practice and Challenge offer new goals with the same scene.
An exact integer model on a line from −10 to 20. Each jump is one to five units and each path holds at most 30 jumps. Curves may overlap; feedback gives the exact endpoint.
