Florida Grade 8 Statewide Science Practice

Practice cumulative Florida science benchmarks from Grades 6–8 with original questions, supplied evidence, hints and explanations.

The Grade 8 Statewide Science Assessment is separate from FAST Reading and Mathematics. It assesses selected cumulative benchmarks from Grades 6–8 in Nature of Science, Earth and Space Science, Physical Science and Life Science. This bank follows Florida’s adopted 2008 science standards. Grade 6 and Grade 7 science support classroom learning and preparation; there is no Grade 6 or Grade 7 statewide science test.

These are independent original instructional examples, not released state items, an official adaptive simulation or predictions of official scores. Supported practice formats are single-select and multi-select questions with supplied evidence, tables and models. Choose a skill, try an answer and review the explanation. This focused bank is not a full-year curriculum and does not cover every subskill within a benchmark.

Middle grades students enrolled in Biology 1 take the Biology 1 End-of-Course assessment instead of the grade-level Statewide Science Assessment; they do not take both. See the official Science fact sheet below for this enrollment-based rule.

Ask for a hint when you need one. All levels use the same original questions.

0 of 189 questions reviewed in this skill selection. This is practice, with no official score.

2026–27 assessment and practice resources

The statewide testing window is May 3–28, 2027. The official computer-adaptive assessment has 48–54 total items, including approximately 8–10 unscored spring field-test items. Students have one 160-minute session with a short break after 80 minutes; those needing more time may continue up to the length of a typical school day.

Grade 8 Science provides a four-function calculator, a periodic table and two-page CBT worksheets. Handheld four-function calculators are allowed under the official policy; scientific calculators are prohibited. Paper accommodations receive a handheld four-function calculator and a periodic table. Any hard-copy periodic table used with the computer-based test must be printed or copied from the official portal file. The links below provide the correct Science resources for practice.

The official reporting-category weights are Nature of Science 19%, Earth and Space Science 27%, Physical Science 27% and Life Science 27%. Practice feedback here reports answers, not official scale scores or achievement levels. Policy and source links were checked September 30, 2026.
