Collect more sunlight
Reflectors gather extra sunlight from outside the oven opening.
Build a solar oven with reflectors, insulation and adjustable sunlight.

Your goal
Reach 35 °C within 10 minutes using at most 0 reflectors.
Reduced motion is on. The controls still update the scene.
Oven 20.0 °C after 0 minutes. Sunlight supplied 0.0 kJ. Stored heat 0.0 kJ plus escaped heat 0.0 kJ accounts for it all.
Changing a design starts a fresh heating trial. This evenly warm model stores 1000 J for each degree of warming. Each reflector increases collected sunlight by 30 percent. Heat escapes faster as the oven gets warmer. Insulation reduces that flow. These illustrative rates are for comparisons, not predictions for cooking or food safety.
Solar Oven Builder lets elementary students investigate how a simple oven captures and keeps energy. Add up to two reflector panels, compare insulation designs, adjust the strength of sunlight, and heat the box for one modeled minute at a time. Watch the oven temperature rise and compare the incoming, stored and escaped energy readings. Each design change begins a fresh trial so comparisons share the same starting temperature. Goals encourage learners to reach a temperature with limited reflectors while recognizing that insulation reduces heat loss rather than producing energy.
Reflectors gather extra sunlight from outside the oven opening.
Compare an open box, a clear lid and a lid with an insulating blanket.
Incoming solar energy equals stored heat plus escaped heat in every heating trial.
Connect captured sunlight, stored thermal energy and heat loss in an oven. Ask students to predict what will happen, change one setting, and explain what they observe. Learn gives a starting point. Practice and Challenge offer new goals with the same scene.
A uniformly warm 1000 J/K oven follows a stable one-minute energy balance at fixed 20 °C surroundings. Reflectors add 30 percent input each, while insulation lowers illustrative heat-loss conductance. It is not a cooking safety model.
