New York Regents Life Science: Biology Practice

Practice current New York science with models, investigation reasoning, hypothetical data and selected learning-standard connections.

Independent, original skill practice with selected New York learning-standard connections. These shorter banks sample each tested subject and major content area, but not every assessed standard or official item format. They are not official state tests, Regents simulations, adaptive tests or score predictions.

18 original questions and tasks. Written responses use task-specific self-review checklists and examples, without automatic scoring. Original classroom stories and hypothetical data are fictional; historical sources and paraphrases are identified individually.

A cell-system model

Original fictional classroom scenario; all measurements and models are hypothetical.

This hypothetical model follows a pancreatic cell: DNA stores instructions; RNA carries information used to assemble proteins. One protein produced is insulin. When blood glucose rises, insulin can help body cells take up glucose. The model omits many regulatory details.

In the cell model, which event could change the amino-acid sequence of an insulin protein?
