Quick self-quiz

Tap each word to check what it stands for.

When to use it

Use it when listing the planets in order of distance from the Sun, from Mercury (closest) to Neptune (farthest).

Example

Mars is the fourth planet, so it comes after Earth in the phrase: My Very Educated Mother (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars).

Common mistake

Including Pluto at the end. Pluto was reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006, so the current phrase ends at Noodles (Neptune).
