Division as Sharing & Grouping Explorer
See division in two ways. Equal sharing deals items into groups one at a time, like handing out cards. Equal grouping makes groups of a set size from a pile, like filling bags. Remainders are highlighted so you can see what is left over.

Reference Guide
Equal Sharing
Division as sharing means splitting a total into equal groups. 24 cookies shared among 6 friends means each friend gets 4.
The number of groups is the divisor, and the amount in each group is the quotient.
Equal Grouping
Division as grouping means making groups of a certain size. 24 cookies in bags of 4 means you fill 6 bags.
The group size is the divisor, and the number of groups is the quotient.
Remainders
When items don't divide evenly, the leftover is called the remainder.
The remainder is always less than the divisor. If the remainder were equal to or greater than the divisor, you could make another group.
Multiplication Connection
Division is the inverse of multiplication. Knowing multiplication facts helps with division.
If you know that 6 × 4 = 24, you automatically know both division facts.
